Heres what Ridebmx had to say on the matter
--- RideUK bike review: wethepeople Trust ---
"A Semi-pro bike that performs and looks the part right out of the box, no compromises and a full new-school street, park or dirt set up..." so it says in the gumph. Well, with one look at the new Trust complete bike, you really cannot argue with that sentiment.
There was once upon a time that 349 earth pounds bought you a steel frame equipped with lead forks, 8-piece handlebars, parts from goodness-only-knows-who and a set of skinny random tyres, the whole thing weighing in at an arse-hair under 40lb. If you were lucky.
In bike-model-year terms, it's 2008 now. Things have changed somewhat. It should come as no surprise then that wethepeople - who, let's face it, are making some of the best product on the market right now - have an absolute killer of a bike for five pence change from 350. And here it is - the Trust.
For a kick off, the bike (which weighs just over 26lb) looks the business. Black frame, raw-like bars and forks, a sprocket that matches the cable in dry-blood-red, a super skinny seat, excellent combination of tyres fore and aft, a bona-fida set of 3-piece cranks that wouldn't be out of place on bikes costing twice the entry fee, and a superb set of wheels. Alex's DX2418 box-section double wall rims are laced into Salt(that's Wethepeople's quality parts brand) sealed hubs, complete with a decent cassette hub out the back with a 10 tooth one-piece cog. Up front, the bars are legit, 2pc Cromoly Wethepeople's that don't need trimming, replacing, or dumping: they are dialled. As are the grips, the front-loading stem, the full chromoly forks with perfect dropouts, the intergrated headset, press-fit midsize bottom bracket, sweet seatstay bridge plate, smooth rear stays, tidy small dropouts, paint finish, graphics .... need i go on?
Maybe i do. This bike is an example of how far we've come - once upon a time a bike this good was out of reach unless you slaved for six months and skimped on every penny and then you had to custom build it from a core BMX shop. Now ladies and gentlemen, here it is already built on a plate, a plate that costs just 349. Amazing.
