BBQ on the day and fueled by Monster, skate comps, BMX demos.
The Gorey Town Council and the Soldiers of Skate organisers have been in discussions all morning regarding the serious conditions of Gorey Town Park. At one stage, the town clerk was cancelling this event on us but after careful consultation with the local engineer, a compromise has been reached and the event is going ahead as planned. But not without your help tomorrow. With so much rain the last
few days, the grass and low areas are flooded badly. We cannot have anyone walking on the grass tomorrow.
WE ARE SERIOUS …DO NOT WALK ON THE GRASS. It is too wet; it will quickly turn to mud and destroy what is already under pressure. We are putting plans in place to make the skatepark accessible for everyone but certain paths will be off bounds. Please obey the rules and barrier taped areas. Anyone seen acting out of line, taking the piss or not listening to marshals will be disqualified from the competition. Remember: wet feet= wet board=wet park!
The BBQ and monster truck will still be there, registration table and DJ tent too, just the setup will be a bit different.
The sun is to shine tomorrow, its going to be the biggest and best year so far, but we need your help to make it that way. So, we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Thanks for your help. SOS
Official Afterparty in Katie Dalys cellar bar. Starting at 9pm and on the wheels of steel are Ed Kelly, Dan Smith and Kevin McRedmond.

Format Perspective is a film by Phil Evans that explores the work, lives and opinions of six European skate photographers. The film showcases the photography of Nils Svensson (Malmo), Stu Robinson (Belfast), Alex Irvine (London), Rich Gilligan (Dublin), Sergej Vutuc (Heilbronn) and Bertrand Trichet (Barcelona/Tokyo), while also giving us an insight into the different approaches used by this diverse line-up of photographers. Filmed completely on super 8 film, this project gives a behind-the-scenes look at the skating that these guys like to shoot, as well as the resulting photos that emerge from these sessions.
Sunday July 3rd, 12noon - 6pm, €8 admission, Free food on the BBQ thanks to relentless, new mobile half pipe will be in the carpark,

RTE Young People's television have been in touch with us about a programme called Ultimate Street Challenge and they are looking to get in touch
with any 16 year olds that may be interested in taking part. Basically it is an adventure sports series that will be filmed this summer
in Dublin and 5 boys and 5 girls will improve their fitness using the city streets as their urban gym. It's not directly related to
skateboarding but they are hoping that the same 16 year olds that would be interested in applying may also be skateboarders. So if you could
spread the word on your website or Facebook page that would be fantastic.
Bit of info on the programme:
They will be coached by Karl Henry from Operation Transformation and mentored by former World Boxing Champion Bernard Dunne.
They will also face a series of challenges that could be anything from abseiling off the top of a football stadium to water
zorbing in Grand Canal Dock or mountain biking races in a shopping centre.
We need 16 year-olds with a basic level of fitness and a real sense of adventure. Our website with more information and an application form is here:

Red Bull Manny Mania wants the best to represent Ireland in New York!
Red Bull Manny Mania returns to Irish shores with a bang this Easter, with the National Qualifier taking place in the Tivoli Complex on April 23rd.
The lucky winner will fly off to represent Ireland at the 2011 World Final on August 20th in New York City!
Back in ’09, Belfast native Paddy Maguire outlasted a top class field to take the Red Bull Manny Mania UK & Ireland Final, held in London’s Brick Lane.
Will Paddy take the honours again in 2011 or can someone else skate to victory?
Let’s wait and see!!
What is Red Bull Manny Mania???Red Bull Manny Mania is a 'Manual' skate trick contest.
The event format will begin with an open jam session to reduce the number of competitors, followed by heats, before a final round to decide the ultimate winner!??Judging will be based on creativity, difficulty and the use of the manual pads to pull moves.
This unique chance for young skaters to get spotted will see competitors pulling wheelies and showcasing their ‘manual’ skills on a series of purpose built pads. The manual or "manny" is a skateboarding trick where, while rolling, the front wheels of the skateboard are lifted off the ground, but the tail does not touch the ground. A manual is similar to a wheelie in other wheeled sports. It is regarded as one of skateboarding’s most difficult tricks, and requires balance, skill and creativity.
The event will begin at 12.30pm on April 23rd, in the Outdoor area of the Tivoli Theatre on Francis St, Dublin. Red Bull skater Keith Walsh, plus two other judges will be on hand to select Ireland’s top “manual” skater. The chosen one will head-off on a trip of a lifetime, competing against skaters from over fifty countries worldwide at the Red Bull Manny Mania World Final!
